William Taft

William Howard Taft was born on September 15, 1857. William was are 27th president. He was also a republican. He also went to Yale Law Scool. He had a lot of jobs like Solicitor General of the United States, federal judge, Governor- General of the Philippines, and Secretary of War. These where all before he became president in 1908. He had help from Theodore Roosevelt. Taft wanted world peace very badly. But in 1911 Theodore Roosevelt left Taft because he thought that he was to reactionary. Theodore became his enemy in 1912 but Taft did win. Then in 1921 Taft became Chief Justice.
In his early life he was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. He was the third of five children. His mother's name was Louisa Maria Torrey and his father's name was Alphonso Taft. His father was also pretty high in the goverment. He served under Ulysses S. Grant. He was raised as a Unitarian and he stuck with it all of his life. He went to Woodward High Scool. He and most of his family went to Yale. He graduated with a Bachelor of laws in 1880.
