My opinion

What is your overall opinion of the class this year? This class has went very well this year. I found the stock project very interesting even though I didnt do so well. I found out the big company's are not the always the best to invest in. I invested into yahoo and I lost a lot of money and I could not climb out of the hole I dug.

The book described everything very well and I strongly recommend it to the next generations coming up. I liked working in the book more than either other book. All in all I think that it was a great year and I have learned a lot in the class.

Capitalism and Communism

Capitalism is a social system based on individual rights. Where Communism is a structure that promotes the establishment of common ownership. Throughout history Capitalism and Communism were practiced. Communism was practiced by the Soviet Union during the Cold War while Capitalism was practiced by America during the ratification.

Communism was trying to put Capitalism out during the cold war. Communism in theory everyone would enjoy equal social and economic status. A communist by the name of Karl Marx tried to end Capitialism. Karl thought the only way to change was through a violent revolution. Karl Marx and his friend Friedreich Engels called this Scientific Socialism.

Monopolies

A monopoly "is a term used by economist to refer to the situation in which there is a single seller of a product for which there are no close substitutes." linfo. The three company's i believe are monopoly's are Microsoft, paramount pictures and the Standard Oil Company.

On May 18, 1998 there was a Antitrust Case. This case was the United States vs Microsoft, they accused Microsoft of abusing monopoly power. They said that Microsoft abused monopoly when they were handling there operating system and there web browser sales. In November of 2001 they reached an agreement to settle out of court.

The next one is paramount pictures, they were also involved in a case. This case is called The Paramount case. This case would change the movie seen forever. The courts said that this paramount picture company was in violation of the antitrust laws. When the decision was announced in the court they ruled it 8-0 in the governments favor.

The last one is Standard Oil. In 1890 standard oil controlled 88% of all the oil flows. Once standard oil started to flow good and smooth, Ohio successfully sued standard oil. Standard oil just pulled out of Ohio but they kept serving the other people.

These three company's I believe were the company's that were a monopoly. These three company's all went to court. There are probably more company's that also fell into monopoly's but I thought these were the big ones.

Business Project

When Mcdonalds was opened in 1940 it proved to be the best move someone could make. They served Hamburgers as long as milk shakes and French fries. When Mcdonalds opened they did so much business it was insane. So thinking on those lines are group descided to open up a business named spud.

Spud will specialize in serving french fries that have various kinds of dipping sauces. When you go to eat at Spud you will recieve Speedy service along with cheap prices. When you eat at Spud you will be able to make your own kind of french fries. As an example you can see the basic idea of this business. This restraunt will be a friendly atsomophere.

This restraunt will bring in a varioty of costumers. Once people start telling people about this resteraunt people will not be able to stop going here. Spud is a great place to go hang out with friends or just hang out and enjoy your surroundings along with great food.

Perfect Compation

When you think of business in Perfect Compation you think of business that are sucessful and trying to elimate all other competetors. In order to have perfect compation you have to have two business wanting to put the other one out of business.

I believe the two business that are in perfect compation are Apple and Microsoft. They keep coming out with new stuff to try to elimate the other compation. They are always trying to outdo each other. They have different strategies for finding there success but both are very successful in there business. To outdo each other they have to work harder than there opponent.

There is an obvious benefit to two company's having perfect Compation. These benefits are they will be coming out with stuff that the costumers has ever seen. Making the costumers wanting to buy a lot of them. For instance Apple in the last year has came out with a couple different stuff, such as the I touch. Apple has also came out with a lap top that is the smallest ever. The second bonus it brings is since there in a compation they want the costumers to buy there product so they will do a lot of things to have the costumers buy there product. They usally drop there prices to bring the costumers in.

This battle will go on for awile. I prodict that we will see one company start surging passed the other one. They both are doing well right now do to Apples I Pod and Microsofts X Box. But there computers are the big picture in this and the I pod and the X box are the little stuff that will help them pass each other.

Perfect Compation, good thing for the costumers bad for the companys. Apple and Microsoft, I believe these guys are the definition of Perfect Compation. I believe that in the next year you will see some awesome devises from both of them.

Increasing role at AVC

Increasing role somewhere without losing quality and integrity is very hard to do. With AVC we have both quality and integrity but we are just a little short on students. Once we get more students we will be able to generate more money, but once we get those students we have to have them stay and the only way is to have them get a good education.

As a school, I think that there should be changes so that we can increase the number of students while quality is still there. Once we get more students common sense will tell you that we need more teachers. Then the tuition has to be able to pay the salary of the teachers, while also paying the bills like utility and the requirements of the school. So saying this, as a school you have to be able to charge enough that we can pay the teachers and pay these bills but yet you have to have a price that is satisfying with the costumers.

Once you get all the numbers done you can start your business plan. You most likely have to raise the tuition to make the improvements on your school but you still have to make it reasonable for the customer. You have to be able to show that there kids will be getting a good Christian education. In our book Basic Economic Principles it goes over a subject that is called Consumer Sovereignty. This is when you sell a product that the costumer wants at the price they are willing to pay. I think this goes well in this because you obviously have what people want and they are willing to pay money you just have to find out how much money they want to spend on a good Christian education.

There is another subject that are book covers that deals good with this and it is Trade offs. It is crucial for AVC to not fall into this because we cant afford to. We cant trade off a better education for more people because in the long run it will hurt you. You want to be able to do both, have good numbers and have a staff that is great that will give a good education.

If you can find out this stuff, I believe that you are able to increase your students. Of course it will not be easy but I think over time you will see it slowly going up. The big thing is to not let your quality slip and I believe you will see a increase of students.

Is it Right?

Is it right to cheat to get into your dream college. I don't think so, it comes down to your moral values. Everyone is tempted to cheat in school or work at least one time in there life. It comes down to your better judgement to not do it. Is it okay if you use someone else's work to gain a higher grade or do you do it yourself and take the lower grade.

We see that even grown adults struggle with this temptation. Barack Obama fell into temptation when he used a guys named Deval Patricks speech as his own. Is this right? NO, absolutely not, it is cheating no matter how you look at it. He said that he "borrowed" a line from is friend Deval. But borrowed or not you have to give credit where credit is deserved and Barack did not. When people found this out they saw his true personality come out.

Something happened similar to this at a College in Virginia, where the professor gave the class a text book and gave them work out of it. A person in the class found the teachers version on line and used it for all the homework the professor gave them. He then shared it with almost all of his class mates. They caught him and the people that shared these answers. There was about 30 and they said they will give them a chance to leave before they are expelled from the school.

When you think of cheating you think of copying, but there are many different forms of cheating. Both of these people knew that Cheating was wrong and there would be consequence but they did it anyways. The one guy that cheated in Virginia has to face his family and friends and tell them what happen and that in its self is hard to do. And Barack has to face America knowing that he cheated. Plus it will hurt him in the presidential race.

All in all cheating is wrong and once a cheater always a cheater. Everyone struggles with this matter but some are very strong and they don't fall into this weakness and others are very weak and they cant stop cheating. So it is wrong to cheat but some people cant help themselves.
