Using the current conflict in Iraq, explain why formulating a new democracy is such a difficult endeavor.

This is a tough question, in this essay I will be talking about the war in Iraq. After this I will tell you why it is very hard to put a democracy in there country. Then after that I will tell you if the United States did this before.
On March 20, 2003 we invaded Iraq. We went in there because we thought they had Weapons of Mass Destruction or WMD. The Iraq war or also known as Operation Iraqi Freedom was led by president Bush. President Bush wanted to act on the preemptive style and hit them before they hit us. I think this was a good idea because I do not like the other strategy of Containment. The basic concept of Containment is that you tell them to stop and if they attack you then you attack back. As I said before I like the Preemptive strategy more. When we attacked there was a man named Saddam Hussein in control of Te State. After the invasion we did not find any WMD weapons. They think he got help from AL Qaeda. On April 3, 2003 we went against the Iraqi's in the Battle of Baghdad. Once we took this big city we took the responsibility for establishing a Democracy for them.
After we took there leader Saddam Hussein we have to establish a Democracy for them. Developing a democracy for someone is very hard and very time consuming. It is hard enough to establish a democracy in our own country let alone another country. But it is very possible, it will be hard but it will be rewarding if we can do it. On this website you can try to be the president and you have to form a democracy for a country. The hard part on forming a new democracy is trying to make everyone happy. It will never make everyone happy, but your job is to make most happy.
Have we ever had to make a democracy before anyone before? No, I do not think we have ever had to take the liberty of making someone Else's democracy. It might have happened on a event that I do not remember but I do not think we have ever had to do this.
In this essay/ blog I told you what we have went through as a nation during this war and what we have to do to produce a good democracy for Iraq. I also told you if we ever went through this as a nation before.

Democracy vs Communism

Democracy is a number of small related forms of Goverment. Meanwhile Communism is basically a theory or system of Social organization based on the holding of all property in common. The next couple of paragraphs will go more in depth's on these subjects and then I will tell you why America had a Democracy and Russia had a Communism Goverment during the Cold War.
The United States built a representative democracy during this time. Democracy is based on majority rule. Democracy makes the elections free and fair because they are letting the people of the United States choose who they want to lead there countries. Democracy protects and respects the human righs. Democracy keeps on growing in the world it as popped up in Greece, Rome, South Asia and North and South America. Democracy emphasizes the importance of the individual in the context of goverment. It is a major influence around the world today.
Communism is a political goal that is a form of social organization. Some communists holds a variety and a couple of them is Marxism Leninism and also something called Trorskyism. When I think of Communism I know it is not good. "He
is hunter, fisherman or shepherd or "critical critic," and must
remain so if he does not want to lose the means of subsistence
-whereas in the Communist society, where each one does
not have a circumscribed sphere of activity but can train himĀ
self in any branch he chooses." Marx 1. I am not sure if the United States ever had to go through this but I never want us to go through this.
The cold war is a very big subject to cover in History. The United States were taking on The Soviet Union. The United States had a representative democracy and the Soviet Union was under Communists people. At this time there was a group of 21 people called the Bolsheviks. "The Bolsheviks later known as the All Russia Communist Party and the Communist party of the soviet Union placed the liberation of the productive potensial of the people at the core of the political process." Westad 40. These people took two cities, the main one was Mascow. They changed the name to the Communist Party. Now the new form of goverment was Communism and this had a lot more power than it should of had. It had so much power because they just taken the one of the biggest city's over.
For this question I told you what I thought about Communism and democracy. Why were they good and why they were bad. I am glad that we were not under communism at this time. I am glad we were under democracy.

Thomas Jefferson

Who was the man who changed our Goverment in a good way? I believe it was
Thomas Jefferson. He was part of The Founding Fathers. So the next couple of paragraphs will be on Thomas Jefferson and how and why he changed of Goverment.
Thomas Jefferson was born on April 13, 1743 in Virginia. "Thomas Jefferson, born in Virginia in 1743, lived in an age of revolution an emerging democracy" Beilenson 1 He was the third child out of eight in his family. His mother was named Jane Randolph Jefferson and his father was Peter Jefferson. At the age of nine Thomas started to study Latin, Greek and French. Five yearslater his father pasted away. When his father died Thomas inherited 5,ooo acres and a couple dozen slaves. At age sixteen he entered College. He studied there for two years and he ended up having the highest grades in his class.
He did a lot of time with are Goverment. He did such things as being the third president of the United States, the second vice president, he was the first Secretary of State, and finally he was the second Governor of Virginia. He took office in March 4, 1801 and ended in March 4, 1809. He was the principle author of The Decleration of Independence. They say that he was one of the most influential Founding Fathers. The major events that happened when he was president was the Louisiana Purchase and also the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
Thomas is one of the most important people because he gave us probably the most important document in the History of the United States and that is the Decleration of Independence. The Decleration of Independence is the building block to our society. If we did not have the Decleration of Independence we as a nation would not be at where we are right now.
In this blog I told you who I thought changed our Goverment in a good way. I personally think he is probably up there for the best president the United States ever had.
"Thomas Jefferson is remembered by most people as the third president of the United States, author of the Decleration of Independence, and, perhaps, purchaser of the Louisiana Territory." Holmes 1

This is why America ended up with a Representative Democracy instead of a Pure Democracy

Why did America end up with a Representative Democracy instead of a Pure Democracy? A Representative democracy is founded on the principles of popular sovereignty. Where as a Pure Democracy is a democracy in which the power to govern lies directly in the hands of the people rather than being exercised through their representatives. The next couple of paragraphs will be explaining these in depth and then after this I will say why our Government went with a Representative Democracy rather than a Pure democracy. "In Great Britain a representative in Parliement does not have to reside in a district which he represents. Forman 15
As I said a Representative democracy is founded on the principles of popular sovereignty. The Representatives of a person running for president organizes everything for what the say a election period. They have to go in the peoples interest but they still have to disagree with some people. So what I am saying is that we are putting our country in the hands of one man, but he has Representatives helping him through everything. The representatives get chosen by the people. These elections are to see who our Representatives are.
As I said before a Pure democracy is a democracy in which the power to govern lies directly in the hands of the people rather than being exercised through their representatives. I'm glad we did not go with a Pure Democracy, because I rather have one guy we as a nation selected to do this, rather than a nation selecting if we go to war or not. Are representatives has a lot of things to worry about such as communication, economics, education, emergencies, environment, health, security, space exploration, taxation, transportation and finally welfare. We can either let professionals handle it or we can let people that do not have a lot of experience handle it.
Lastly why did America choose a Representative Democracy over a Pure Democracy. America has debated this topic for a long time until there was a debate and we choose a Representative Democracy. "To correct the failings of the government created by the founders and to truly achieve a good government and society, we are guided by the following two principles:
That government and society are best in which fairness and the power, freedom, and happiness of everyone are maximized.
These things are achieved by creating a correct distribution and balance of political power, the condition in which no faction reigns supreme or holds undue power and everyone holds some measure of real power and can truly affect the fundamental nature of the society within which they live."Rothenberger chapter 6.
On this website you can vote on what Democracy sounds better. On this website it shows an opinion, it is NationalRepublic vs Federal Democracy
In this blog I described what a representative democracy was and what was a Pure Democracy was. Then I told you why America chose a representative democracy more than a pure democracy.
