Watergate Break-in
The Watergate break in was in 1972. The Break in was at The Democratic National Committee. A lot of the people were from the plumbers unit. There original job was to plug leaks. The other people that were doing this was from the CIA. The day was June 17th 1974. There was a security guard named Frank Wills. Wills saw a piece of tape holding the door open. So he went up and removed it. He thought the cleaning crew put it there. But when he returned around 2 am there was another piece of tape. He was suspicious and he called the police. The police went in and got five guys. Bernard Barker, Virgilio Gonzalez, Eugenio Martinez , James W. McCord Jr. and Frank Sturgis. All these people got caught and did time in prison. The significance of the break in was to show people the dirty things going on in the white house. This led to a new era for our Country.
" The events of June 1972rekindled the mood of cynicism and distrust toward offcialdom that the Nixon Administration had inherited in 1969."
